Up in the Air

So busy.

Between Titi and I, three of the four nino's birthdays fall within a month of each other.  But this year we were hit or miss.

So I called her and said let's do something, altogether.  She suggested the airshow.

Awesome!

Then come the instructions.  Meet at a parking lot at 8:30 AM.

Seriously?

I mean, I wanted to hang out and stuff but the lot was 45 minutes away.  I would have to get Dyleva up early on purpose.

When did I become such a whiner?

So we did.  We got up at the crack of dawn, got the kids ready, and trekked out to the Summit Mall to meet the shuttle bus for the airshow.

Thank goodness Tiney and Eric knew what they were doing.  We hopped right on a bus to the Air Force Base, and made it to the air show early.  The bus dropped us about  a half mile away from the security checkpoint.  There was no line for security, we were in by 9:30.

I am going to jump ahead to when we left around 2 PM.

The line for security was passed the shuttle drop off!! There were people waiting in line for almost a mile long.  No joke.  And the show ended at 5 PM.

Thank you again Titi and Eric for having all your marbles together and getting our stubborn butts their early.

I loved it!  I don't know if Dyleva did; they were a little cranky, but I found it fascinating.
Titi moseying past hot paratroopers...coincidence?

Strong Eva

First we toured a couple of the aircraft.  Eva and Dylan got to sit in the cockpit.  I take for granted that not many people have seen the inside of one.

Next, we found a good spot in the sun, sat back, and looked to the sky.

Watch out sea gull!

The show began with paratroopers jumping out with the American and Canadian flags during the national anthems.

Very impressive.

After that there were many featured aircraft doing different amazing scary stunts!

They also had a hovercraft, the Osprey.  I think it is so fascinating.

We ended with the small planes that make pictures (like a heart) in the sky.  Like eight of them fly at once, right next to each other.

I loved it.  Thanks again Titi and Eric.

Dylanisms VI

Dylan and I were talking, and he said ".......when I was  in Pee School.  Oh dang, I forgot the R."

^^^^^^^^^^^
Dylan and I were driving.  The rain had just ended, so I had opened the sun roof, and continued driving.  A minute later, I hear Dylan yelling from the backseat.  "Mom!  Close the window!  I am getting skydrool on me!"

**************

Dylan had made a pin somewhere.  He comes in at night, with it pinned to his pajamas.  In front of his groin.

"Hey Dyl, that's probably not the best spot to wear your pin.  If it pops open, its really going to hurt your pene."

His eyes get really wide.  "Yeah, I don't want to do that.  That's my most important part."

*******************

My father recently had surgery.  His wife, my stepmom, was also in a rehabilitation center recovering from illness.  Recently, he sent word that his dog was going into the hospital to recover from kidney stones.

I was telling my ninos about this.  Dylan thought about it, and then finally said,

"Wow.  That house is really beat up."

*******************
As usual, I was expressing how much needed to get done for the holidays.

Eva piped up.  "I can help you Mommy."

I was so touched.  It came out of nowhere, and it was sincere.

"Thank you baby doll.  You are so sweet."

Dylan piped up.  " I can help you Mommy."

"Thanks Dylan."

"You know," he said, "Six hands are better than two."

Coming to Mommy's Class

Every year, the end draws to a close sooooo quickly.  Like, I still have plans to teach x, y, and z, and my coworkers look at me and are like, "What are you doing?  The year is over."

This year was no different.  I officially stopped teaching a week out, and spent that last week celebrating the success of the year, taking down the room, and closing up shop.  I have students until the very last day, and a principal that likes to be out Friday right after the buses pull away!

So, its a little stressful.  Every year though, Dyleva looks forward to coming to my classroom.  I don't understand why.  I'm cranky.  I can't play with them or entertain them because I am crazy busy.  But yet, every year they beg to come.

Eva came in Wednesday afternoon, after Moving up Day, and Friday.  Dylan came in Thursday.

Oh yeah.  I am not crazy enough to bring them in together; I still have a partial class of students to maintain!

This year, Dyleva made friends.  Not only with my students, but my coteacher has five children!  Two of which are same sex/same age as Dyleva.

Some interesting incidents, of course, never a dull moment at my school.  Dylan was out on the playground with another teacher, and the ninos had to all come back inside because a building close by caught on fire.  Here is the view from my classroom window.

Mess! one day left to remedy!

Cleaning the lockers!

Did not survive a day with Mommy...

I'm two for two!

Oh Yashua. Otherwise known as the cat.  I will miss you.

It all worked out.  My room didn't finish perfectly how I like to leave it, but I give it a B+.  I have a terrario that probably will not survive the summer....

Eva's Last Day

I didn't cry.  Maybe its because Eva wasn't sad?

Adios Vista de la Colina

Today was Eva's last day at her elementary school.  It is a lovely school.  It really is, she hasn't had a "bad" teacher or experience yet.  I am sad to see her leave a wonderful school.

But... I am excited for her, and nervous.  She will be going to a school next year with over 2,000 students.

Today's moving up ceremony included 6 third grade classes.  Each student shared a favorite memory.

EACH STUDENT.

(Mental math 6 classes X approximate 24 students = 144!)
Damn! Should have brought a flask!

I knew what Eva was sharing ahead of time; and I didn't feel it was that significant.
But after sitting through 144 "I liked my field trip, " and "It's the day I met Johnny," I applauded her memory and uniqueness.
