Jeff is a huge hockey fan. He loves play off hockey.
I couldn't care less. So since our household was about to be inundated with playoff hockey, I decided to make it interesting.
"So how about we all pick a team? Winner gets to pick a restaurant?"
Done.
The kids were super excited!
Dylan chose Bruins, Eva chose Predators, I chose Penguins, Jeff chose Tampa- the reigning champions of regular season.
Jeff didn't win one game. Eliminated. Eva and I slowly were eliminated.
Dylan moved on! Round one!
Dylan chose Rainforest Cafe!
Second round. Eva chose Hurricanes, I chose Blues, Dylan chose Islanders, Jeff chose Sharks.
Poor Eva was eliminated. Then Dylan.
Jeff and I moved on to the third round.
Eventually, I won, and the Blues moved on to become the Stanley Cup champions.
Yeah for me! I won the Fantasy Football and the Stanley Cup Champions in the same year!
We went for Indian food. It was delicious!

Painters for Hire
Easter week.
We stayed in town. The weather was awful.
I was ecstatic! Finally! We can get some work done around the house. I have been so busy just working and raising Dyleva that the walls around me have begun to crumble.
Some of them kind of are...
So Dyleva and I made a plan. We were going to fix up the sala, Eva wanted her walls in her room changed, and Dylan wanted hockey pictures up, and a new shelf.
Done.
Preparation.
I made them watch Karate Kid.
SHOW ME PAINT THE FENCE!!!
I taped all the edges; Dyleva painted the walls. They are really hard workers! I did the baseboards and the edges and ceiling.

We bought new furniture. Maya expanded on her paintings that inspired the whole remodel. We bought new curtains and pillow cases.
Dylan selected the hockey players he wanted displayed. Tio Arch built Dylan a customized shelf for his wall. Amazing!!!
Eva's room we are still working on. We have two walls done, but wallpapering is almost a lost art and difficult to find. To be continued.
This is just the beginning. Now I have Minions. We will transform this whole house!!!

Yoga Drama
YOGA!
I have always loved yoga. Used to be good at it. Since B.C. (before children) I have dabbled in it. I really wanted to get back into a regular practice at a quality place with an excellent instructor.
Yoga Drama 1:
Eva and I began with a friend at a nearby place in November. We liked it. She was extremely knowledgeable. She did do more talking and less moving, but it was a nice way to ease back in to it.
Problem:
She seriously canceled every other class. Sickness, too much snow, traveling to India.....We gave her a fair shake. Then we left because we ACTUALLY want to practice yoga, not just talk about it when the stars align.
Yoga Drama 2:
So one day when yogi #1 cancelled I got angry and went back to my old stomping ground. I looked online at their policy, they didn't have any age restrictions. So Eva and I went. They were so kind, so welcoming. They assured me it was fine that Eva came and practiced. We practiced there for the next two months. The practitioners loved Eva. For the record, Eva is very quiet and respectful during class. She is a little fidgety, but very well mannered.
Problem:
One night I checked my email and I received a message from one of the owners. She informed me that because of their studio policy, ages 12 and older, Eva could no longer practice. You can imagine my fury after two months of practice and all my reassurance of her presence. Turns out other practitioners wanted to start bringing their children. They didn't want that.
Yoga drama #3:
No drama so far! We found another place; the schedule is a little screwy but so far so good! We really like it. Some of the people are a little wacky, as yoga people sometimes are, but hopefully third times the charm!!!

Jeff's Spring Project
It is April.
The snow has melted. The ice has thawed. Spring has arrived. Well, kind of.
Anyway, Jeff has gone outside. Until November. We lovingly refer to him as "The man in the yard."
This year, however, his 'project' actually interests me and Dyleva. He has built them a tree house!
It was supposed to be built two years ago...but after the injury it got put on the back burner.
Not this year. The man in the yard was out there from end of work, till past dusk- Rockin' the headlamp. On weekends, from dawn till dusk.
Seriously, one day, the man in the yard called me out to hold a beam, and there were 30 mile an hour winds and a blizzard. My hands were frozen.
"Hold it still!!" he would yell.
But I lamented, "But my fingers are numb!"
Yet, he persevered. I was quite impressed. He had the whole thing built in less than two weeks.
Eva actually inspired the tree house complex. Jeff was going to do a simple tree house. But then Eva started probing him. Jeff got really quiet, and then went to his thinking place.
And voila. I present tree house complex.
There is and entrance to the main room, a hammock and mini table for entertaining. Then the tunnel runs through the big shed, with room for storage and exits on to a platform.

A House of Fools
I think Eva had been planning this year's April Fools Day, since last year's April Fools Day.
She has been keeping a running list of pranks.
So there was no chance of getting through the day without acknowledgement.
In fact, Jeff and I went out the night before. We came home to find that Eva share all her plans with the babysitter. She made her sign a waiver!!!

Eva was all into it.
What she didn't know was that I had some tricks up my sleeve as well.
Jeff went out to start his van that morning, only to find it filled to the brim with Dyleva's stuffed animals!
Eva and Dylan found their shoes filled with purple powder from the color run this morning.
That one kind of backfired though, because I had to clean it up and it almost made us late for school.
Eva had dumped a bottle of nailpolish on my bed (on top of saran wrap).
Then she wrote all over the mirror with lip stick, dumped baby powder all over the kitchen floor. She dressed a doll in my clothes!
Little stinker!
I filled their lunch boxes with plastic bugs!
But she got me good. She stole my new framed Dave poster from Titi off the wall and replaced it with a drawing.
Who does that?
The finale was when Dylan went to gymnastics, we spider-webbed his room with string.
Such a creative but mischievous little girl!
