We live right down the street from a historical monument- the Hull House on Genesee. I have always wondered about it, but never investigated.
Well, I happened to stumble across a festival there this weekend!

This is the view from Genesee Street. |
Dyleva was fascinated by the old house and the antique artifacts found inside. Straight away, they were drawn to the spinning wheel, because they recognized it from Sleeping Beauty.
Dylan found an old bed key used to tighten the rope supporting the straw mattresses.
Eva was very interested in the old dolls and toys that the children used to play with.
Outside, there were vendors and little stations used to demonstrate skills from then.
This woman was showing Dyleva how to treat wool and manipulate it until its hard. They made a firm little ball that was later made into a necklace.
There was a woodcutter, a blacksmith, a woman cross-stitching, and tools for grinding grain.
