Eva's Style

We don't know where she gets it from.

I blame Tia Jill.  She definitely does not get it from me.  But Eva treats every day like a performance.

And she dresses in her costume accordingly.  The grocery store, a walk in the woods, a birthday party...It doesn't matter really.

She dresses.

She accessorizes.

She beautifies.

Except her hair.
I can't get that girl to brush her hair for nothing.

Piratas

Under attack
Dylan asks me this morning, "Mommy, can you come play with me?"

Which I quickly found out, as with Eva, that really means:

"Will you come and watch me but not touch anything?"

So I humored him, but started documenting his play.  He was playing in his bedroom with his pirates.
Cannonball marbles

"If their ship sinks, they can come on their ship.  This guy is their pet."  Referring to the sea creature.  "He eats the bad guys."

Sea Creature
"This is all theirs, and they all share them.  Now they have swords and shooter guns.  Look Mom, they just shot you."

"Me?"  I asked in shock.

Princess Emily
"Yeah, It's just toys, Mom."

Fair enough.

"They are going to shoot their sail all the way to Puerto Rico."

We recovered the sail.

"Now we need to get this stuff to Queen Emily. She's in Puerto Rico.  She was trapped by Captain Hook."
Relaxing in the ocean

"He's going to shoot this."  (giant marble)

He fires at the ship. "It's going to sink now."

Going to Fantasy Island
"It's going to be a party up here.  Because it's a huge boat.  They are not celebrating, they are going to get the princess back.  It is a party on the boat."

"Look, now they are going to shoot the princess onto the other pirate ship!" (Through the cannon.)  "They put her there so she could be safe, because sometimes bad guys come on the big ship."

"These guys can breathe underwater, so they can relax in the wáter so there is more space.  Their treasure is now in the ocean.  Now they are putting it in the treasure chest.  They are just going to go in one minute to Fantasy Island."

Not pirates, but later Dylan playing with his Ninja in the sun.

Trimming the tree

Who would have thought we would be trimming the tree in April, but I got a phone call.

Jeff, wanting to know if I could get Dyleva home by a certain time.

Sure?

I soon found out why.  Some climber dude was going to scale our trees with a chainsaw.

Fascinating.  It could hardly pull me away from preparing dinner.  But the niños found it entertaining.  Eva especially kept pushing her limits to move closer.

They sat out in the rain and watched as huge branches were trimmed and fell helplessly to the ground.

Timber!

Dylan's Dribble

It is always interesting to see the different interests your child is attracted to.  We have tried to expose Dyleva to so many different things.

Recently, Dylan has taken a liking to basketball.  (For the record we have no idea where this came from).

He started dribbling, and now is slightly obsessed with how many dribbles he can do in a row.  We have been practicing every week at the gym.  On the driveway.  On the back porch.  In the house...

Today was the first beautiful day.  In the driveway he started practicing.  I counted 255 dribbles! I was counting, counting counting....."Mom! Are you counting?"  I could see him totally focused.  And hear him, "Wind! wind! Your not helping!"

Śmigus-dyngus

In Poland, Dyngus Day is known as "wet Monday."

Well, it certainly was here in Buffalo.  The rain poured down all day long.  The ground was saturated; it was windy; and cold.

I could have totally spent the day home with a fire going.  Dylan agreed with me.  "Mommy, I just want to play."

I had this to deal with.  Christmas in March.

But it was Dyngus Day.  Polish relatives were beckoning.

Eva was excited.  "Mommy!  Can we go! Can we?"

So be it.  Well my little party animal turned into a wallflower, and I couldn't drag either one of them to the dance floor.

Thank goodness, cousins showed up and my little wallflowers blossomed.
