Centers

Snow day!
We kind of saw it coming!
Everybody had cancelled school except for us!

But I was prepared.  I created a schedule of centers.

I was not about to have my awesome snow day ruined by fighting ninos!

I began with some centers that were open all day.  Dyleva could go to them whenever they chose throughout the day.  An example was Eva's cozy corner.  That became the reading center.  Throughout the day if Dyleva wanted to curl up with a good book, they could do that.

I organized the day by sections of the house.  Then I listed the activities going on in that area and times.

The living room was a yoga center from 9-12.  Then it became a Go Noodle center 12-3, and then a Just Dance center 3-5.

The basement was instruments, then later ball play, then lastly target practice.

The kitchen was baking, then lunch, then science experiments.

The hallway was choo choo all day long.

Eva's room was Barbie, Dylan's room was Legos.

My room was homework/flashcards, later nap.

Awww. Nap center.  Reminds me of the good old days when we HAD TO nap everyday.

Finally, the Dining room was puzzles and scrapbooking.

It was very engaging!  There was no fighting, and no whining that they were bored.  Later we played out side and went for a walk at night to get some exercise.

I'll take a snow day any day!

The Slopes

A new "favorite" hobby for our family is skiing.

This year we have repeatedly hit the slopes, some of us quite literally.

Dyleva loves it.  They suit up and fly down the hill like its nothing.

Dylan especially show impatience, like when his Mommy needs to start out on the bunny hill to warm up.

I pray we get through the season in one piece.

Dylanisms VII

I was tucking Dylan into bed.  We always snuggle a bit and say our rezas.

I had just finished making lunches.  "I'm sorry Dyl.  I think my hands smell like tuna fish."

He paused, and said.  " I think it smells like love."

*****

We were talking about food.  About peanut butter and jelly.

Dylan piped up, "And with ketchup and ranch."

I paused, "Peanut butter and jelly with ketchup and ranch?"

He replied calmly.  "It works out."

Weirdo.

Dylan was talking roller coasters.  He was discussing with Eva which ones he wanted to go on.

"I don't know yet about the Tantrum.  I have to see if it's real screams, or screams of fun."

&&&&&

Dylan starts off one day in the car quite nonchalantly:

"So when people ask me, 'Hey Dylan, do you want a hot dog?'...."

Is that a question people ask you frequently?  My boy.

^^^^^^

Playing with Eva.

"Careful!  You're going to hit my crazy bone!!!"

We were camping.  We were having family conversation, when Dylan suddenly proclaimed to me:

"Well, you are the smorekeeper."

Eva's vocabulary

Hi this is Eva.

I love drawing and vocab is my favorite piece of homework that I do.  I have fun drawing the people and writing the definition.  Even though, I am not the best speller in the world.
