My Little Gretsky

Last spring, Dylan was super into ice skating and hockey.  So I signed him up for the fall.

Since then, he has had a mild obsession with soccer.  I mean, he pretty much sleeps with the soccer ball.  It goes with him to school each day, its the first thing he does when he comes home.

I was a little concerned that he wouldn't want to do hockey then.

Apparently, there is enough love to go around!  Jeff says our little Gretsky skates his heart out on the ice.  Eva and I join the boys every now and then for practices.  I have a feeling there will be many of these in my future.  The boy has no fear.  His only problem is stopping; hasn't exactly mastered that skill quite yet.

The only thing we have to control now is his ego.  He is pretty confident of his amazingness.

Potions

Eva took her Harry Potter obsession to the next level.  For about six months, she researched every mentioned "potion" in Harry Potter.

The research sat on our dining room table for about six months.
We garage saled.  Thrift stored.  Stole from Tia Lisa.  Eva accumulated many beautiful bottles to showcase the potions.
But she got them all.

We cleared off a shelf in the dining room to display them.

What a great project you completed Eva!  I am so proud of you and your perseverence!  Now you better not be taking any Polyjuice potion.....
In the process...

Anna and Lilly

If you have followed this blog, then you must know that Eva cherishes my childhood baby doll, Anna.

Eva got Baby Anna for the first time when she came to visit me in the hospital when I just gave birth to Dylan.

Anna is old.  She looks a little rough these days, but no matter to Eva.  She loves her wholeheartedly.

As we were going through some of my Mom's things, we came across my Mom's childhood baby doll; an equally weathered doll.  However, my Mom's doll has a bonus freaky quality to it.  It is double faced!

One face is happy, with her head covered by the bonnet.  The other side of her head is the baby crying.  Weird.

Nonetheless, it is Eva's doll now.  She had named her Lilly.

Freaky babies must stay together.

End of Summer

Sometimes I feel that summer lasts forever.  Long lazy days....for the children, I mean.  Sometimes it seems we pick right back up where we left off last August.

Dyleva loves summer.  And rightfully so.  Jeff and I do everything possible to ensure they have many happy memories.

With Grandma Candy passing this summer, many outings were bittersweet.  She would not want anyone sitting around crying for her, but at the same time, how can you not?  It all happened so fast.

Hope you have enjoyed some highlights of Dyleva's summer.
