Roller Derby!

When Eva returned to school after February break, her teacher asked her what she did over vacation.

She answered, "I went to Roller Derby with my mommy and her girlfriend."

Great.

That teacher will never look at me again the same way.

It was true however, kind of.  My best friend Lisa and I took Eva for a night out.  Eva had previously read the book 'Roller Girl,' a graphic novel over the summer, and was fascinated by the sport.

We had a great night! We started at the bar (naturally...) at Riverworks.  Had a bit of dinner and then moseyed over to a spot on the bleachers.

Eva was really into picking favorite skaters, and was having fun with their names.  She had already chosen her favorite team, the Alley Kats (go figure).  At half time, Lisa proceeded to spoil her rotten, by buying her everything possible at the merchandise table.

When we got back to the seats, one of the players came down to our seats.  Eva got to meet her, and got her picture taken with her.

The Alley Kats won by a landslide!  Eva must have brought the cat power as she was their good luck charm.  After we got to meet a couple more skaters, and then ubered home.  Eva was so excited to take an uber.

What a fun night out with my daughter and my girlfriend!

Pom pom kitty fever

Eva gets into craft modes; OBSESSES over them, and then they are never to be heard of again.

Santa Claus, that bastard, got her a Pom Pom kitty book.  So the week was spent creating pom pom kitties.

The frustrating part is, by the time I have it down, the process, she loses interest.

Go figure.

A little ice...

It was a beautiful winter day, so we decided to go ice skating.
It has been awhile....

Eva is more like me, slow and steady.  Eventually she found her bearings.
Dylan, on the other hand, is hard core.  Full throttle into the ice.  Falls down, gets back up and goes even faster.

Fortunately we made it out without a mark!  Went to lunch and hung with Sharkgirl a bit.

Valentine....

If you have read my blog, you know I'm all business about Valentine's day.
I insist they put time and effort into every valentine.

Mission accomplished.
Eva wanted to make kitties.  Surprise.
Dylan, however wanted Pokemon.  I kind of first saw the idea on the internet and borrowed it.
Pokeballs!

100 Days!

100 Days of school!
Teacher suggestion: decorate a tee-shirt with pom-poms, buttons, bandaids, etc.

What does my little man want?
Pikachu.
Of course.

So I printed and cut out 100 Pikachus.  Dylan colored them all, and Eva glued them on.
A family assembly line.

A ride to school

Dyleva's school has a weekly book log that comes once a month.  I have always filled it out; we read every night anyway what difference does it make?

All entries from the book log enter into a raffle for a ride to school from a fire truck.

Imagine my surprise when Eva brings home the notification that she is the monthly winner!!!

How exciting!  Unfortunately, I could not be present because of that pesky work thing that always complicates my social life, but Jeff was.
