Berries and the Mattress-Eating Machine

So I thought it would be a good idea to drag my ninos to pick strawberries in the blazing sun.  They painted themselves white with sunscreen, put on their sunhats and we were ready to go!

Cannot figure out how to rotate! Sorry!

Eva took to the field like a migrant worker.  She gathered and picked endlessly until all canastas were filled.  I didn't even see her try one....

Dylan on the other hand, picked for about 15 minutes.   Grew bored.  Sat down and ate a few.  He eventually  followed his sister around, annoying her by coming into her lane.  "No Dylan!  I'm picking here!"

Not to be outdone, but this morning we had a very enthusiastic conversation about garbage men.  Dylan loves the trucks.  "Mommy! ERRRRRR!"  (That's his garbage truck sound).  We watched from our living room window, as the garbage men worked our street.  We unanimously decided we would rather be the guy on the back of the truck, than the driver.  Our neighbor across the street threw out a queen size mattress.  Eva was distraught over this.  We watched as the hombres lifted it into the huge truck and eventually sucked it in and ate it up.  The two of them just sat there mesmerized at the big truck that just ate a mattress for breakfast.  Dylan just said "Whoa!"

Bowling

Dyleva began their day on their slip n slide in the hot, humid, morning sun.  We waited in anxious anticipation to share this new fun activity with Lola, who was on her way.

Eva departed midday to bowl for the first time.  i watched as she lifted the huge ball (the pretty one) of the rail and carried it to the lane.  She set it down gently, and gave it a great kick¡.  surprisingly it made it to the end and knocked down a pin or two.  by the end, she had gotten the hang of it, she bowled a 58.  Nothing is more entertaining than watching a bunch of 5 year olds bowl for the first time!

later, we had just sat down to dinner when an impromptu rainstorm decided to pass over us.  dylan was screaming, he was stuck in his seat and couldnt run for cover.  Kind of an ironic reaction for a child that played in the sprinkler the whole day.

Good Choices

Today over breakfast, we began to list.  To make plans for the exciting adventure filled eight weeks upon us.  We move to the kitchen floor.  As I am writing their ideas...zoo, museum, park,..Dylan asks why I have coconuts.  I look up in confusion.   Coconuts? (Did I miss something?).  And I realize he means the bullets.
List organized by use of Coconuts

As we finish the list, Eva asks if we can make a list of bad choices so we know how to act on the viajes.  I suggest a list of good choices, she agrees.  Eva and Dylan start talking about some good choices they can make.  Eva wants to write them down.  I start to spell out the words for her.  About 10 minutes later she looks up from the kitchen floor at the fridge.  "Mommy, why don't we just use the imanes?"  It never occurred to me to use the letter magnets right in front of my face.

Why? really? me? with a blog?

Anyone that knows me, knows i have a severe aversion to technology.  This year my school computer started smoking.  Anyway, next year I was told i have to blog about my students.  I listened patiently as my administrators went on and on about the benefits and convenience of blogging.  They inevitably turned to me to ask me my opinion, and i answered with, "Im sorry- Whats a blog?

It occurred to me that I have a gold mine, right here in my house.  Unlimited daily entertainment to blog about.  So as any good teacher would do, i am pimping out my children to become blogmaster by September!  Disclaimer| : i cannot figure out how to correct errors, yesterday I erased everything iwrote because i need to do it all on this stupid ipad thingy.
